O Restaurante Tambarino foi a nossa escolha para o almoço de sábado, devido à uma tradição que mantém há anos: o Buffet de Funge, com vários pratos típicos da cozinha angolana, deliciosas sobremesas e, para beber, Kissangua fresquinha.

The Restaurant Tambarino was our choice for lunch on Saturday, because of  a tradition it has kept for years: the Funge Buffet, with several typical dishes of the Angolan cuisine, delicious desserts and, to drink, fresh Kissangua (traditional Angolan fermented drink, made with rice, maize corn or pineapple skin).

Localiza-se na Rua Amílcar Cabral, nº 23, a mesma  rua da Comissão Nacional Eleitoral, depois do Edifício do Tribunal.

It is located on Amílcar Cabral Street, No. 23, the same street of the National Electoral Commission, after the Court Building.

Os clientes têm  a opção de escolher à la carte ou  buffet. Ficamos pelo buffet, que foi o motivo da nossa visita.

Tínhamos como opções o  Caldo de Peixe, Menha Ndungo e, para acompanhar,  batata doce (assada e cozida), banana pão (assada e cozida), mandioca e farinha musseque.

Começamos pelo Caldo de Peixe com pedaços de mandioca e  farinha musseque. Estava perfeito.

Clients  have the option  to choose à la carte or the buffet. We stayed with the buffet, which was the reason of our visit.

We had as options the Fish broth, Menha Ndungo (roasted, dried fish with chopped onion sauce) and, to accompany, sweet potato (roasted and boiled), plantain  (roasted and boiled), cassava and musseque flour (made of cassava, soaked, crushed and toasted).

We begun with the Fish Broth with pieces of cassava and  musseque flour. It was perfect.

As opções eram  Calulu de Carne Seca, Calulu de Peixe fresco e seco, Peito Alto, Moamba de Dendém, Peixe Grelhado, Feijão de Óleo de Palma, Kizaca, Mengueleca, Gimboa Salteada, Quiabos cozidos, e os habituais Funge de Milho de Bombó.

The options were Calulu of  Jerked Beef (jerked beef soaked, prepared with palm oil and okra), Fresh and Dry Fish Calulu, Peito Alto  (beef with bones, prepared with tomato and okra), Dendém Moamba (chicken, palm oil, okra), Grilled Fish, Palm Oil Beans, Kizaca (fresh cassava leaves, cooked in water, with a bit of little oil, garlic and salt), Mengueleca (pumpkin leaves cooked with okra), Sautée Gimboa (typical Angolan leaves, similar to spinach), boiled okra, and the usual Funge (typical Angolan accompaniment, made with corn or cassava flour).

Fomos criativos e servimos Calulu de Carne Seca, kizaca, mengueleca e banana pão assada. A carne seca preparada na perfeição, kizaca e  mengelaca impecáveis.

Voltamos, desta vez para servir o Calulu de Peixe fresco e peixe seco, Funge de milho e batata doce assada. Mais uma vez, o calulu de peixe preparado na perfeição, um verdadeiro deleite. Aquele funge que se respeita, muito bom!

We were creative and served Calulu of jerked beef, kizaca, mengueleca and roasted plantain.The jerked beef cooked perfectly, the kizaca and the mengelaca were impeccable.

We returned, this time to have the Calulu of fresh and dry fish, corn funge and roasted sweet potato.  Once again, the Fish Calulu was perfectly prepared, a real treat. That Funge you respect, very good!

Terminamos no buffet de sobremesas. As nossas escolhas foram Mousse de Chocolate, Pavê de Ginguba, Pé de Moleque e Doce de coco.

Só  podemos dizer que foi de comer e chorar por mais.

We ended up at the dessert buffet. Our choices were Chocolate Mousse, Peanut Pavê, Pé de moleque (sweet made with sugar and peanuts) and Doce de Coco (sweet made with coconut and sugar).

We can only say, it was to eat and cry for more.

Bebemos Kissangua de Fubá de Milho, muito bem preparada, e vinho tinto.

We had Kissangua, very well prepared, and red wine.
