Luanda Expat Guide

Send us your questions about expatriation in Luanda and Angola, and we will try to help you the best way we can.

How to get an Angolan visa?
Most companies will take care of your visa application so you won’t have to go through the immigration process by yourself, which is a rather sweet thing.
In case you are coming by yourself, it is possible to get an ordinary visa by yourself as long as you get a letter of invitation from a sponsor and that you can prove that you have enough funds during your trip (more detailed info here: http://www.angola.org/visa.html).

Very Important: You need to apply in your country of residence!!!.

To help you in the process, you can contact Angola Travel Services, a travel company based in South Africa: http://www.aasafaris.com/ATS.htm

The normal process takes more than a month, but with them, you can do it in less than 10 days.

How is safety in the central city along the Marginal and on the Ilha. Looks can be deceiving, but it sure seems a bit risky at night. No worries during the day as people seem friendly enough.

Both are not safe at night, but for short distances, and if you are with a group, I guess it can be ok to walk a couple hundred meters if you have to..

Who Are We?

We are a bunch of guys and gals, living and working in the most vibrant of cities: Luanda! We are dedicated to discovering new and cool hang out places - those that no one else will tell you about - and giving you our honest humble opinion. From the pretentious overpriced bars and restaurants on Ilha; to that charming little roof top restaurant on a two story building on the Marginal: if they serve food and drinks, we are there to review it!
